When that European Super League thing was mooted a few years ago, weren't Spurs one of the six from England going to join it? Not sure that would work if they were in the 2nd division [Link]

This just gets funnier and funnier.
Arsenal fans would be in dreamland if they won the league the same season Spurs got relegated. It's entirely possible but I suspect neither will happen. Don't care about who wins the league but for sheer amusement value Spurs getting relegated would be beyond hilarious, even if they would just come straight back up.

I remember Spurs in the old 2nd division in the 1970s. They were crap back then. Having said that, I also remember in WFC's first season in the league in 1977 we played them away in the 2nd round of the League Cup and lost 4-0 (John Duncan hattrick for them - the next season we lost 8-0 away to Everton in the same competition at the same stage).
If Palace get another one, I think their supporters will be the only people in the stadium

Remember that Spurs went down to div 2 (as was) in the late 70s.

Everyone seems to know Yernited going down but hardly anyone remembers Spurs doing likewise
Newcastle have been relegated a couple of times but bounced back

No idea whether Utd in division two back then is the equivalent of spurs in the championship next season.

Also whether there’s a chance that Spurs might spend as long adrift as Forest did. That would be funny.
Trigg - true, and Man Utd went down in the 1973/74 season - I remember watching them play at Fulham the following season…

They've also got the two legs of Atletico in the last 16 of the CL in their next four

I keep hearing the word “surely” when it comes to Spurs going down or not going down. Surely they’ll survive or surely they’ll not go down. Can’t remember a similar scenario the closest thing must be when Nottingham Forest went down way back when and the conversation was all about whether they were too big to go down.

Football has changed a lot since then. Spurs have a very impressive stadium (unless you want a pint at half time) but football isn’t decided on stadium design. Given their phone-in fans have been demanding champions league football and title challengers as a god given right for so many years now I think it would be a good experience for them to be relegated.
CW - luckily Spurs next games are easy, Liverpool away and then Forest…

Would be very funny seeing Spurs v Lincoln
It’s going from bad to worse - the Palace fans were singing “Sit down if you’re going down” 😯 Spurs won’t go down, but if they did, they’d definitely have the best stadium in the Championship….

WIJG - I've posted enough over a sustained period on what Inthonk should happen next. I don't need to keep repeating it. If you disbelieve me then search back on my tag. There is no need for me to clutter up the Guestbook now to make a point. I don't believe in pricing people out of coming to games so the stadium is filled with corporates or tourists, who will not be there when times get tough. I also don't believe selling popcorn and ice cream in the ailses will help either.

We just have a fundamentally different philosophy on what a football club should be for, hence we will disagree. Nothing wrong with that. Neither of us is a better or worse supporter because of it.
Bless ‘em they’ve got their Tottenham back lol

The best thing about the New Tricks stuff, was that it was fresh in the minds of its audience about the significance of AFC Wimbledon, a bloody good advert too.
