It’s not obvious to me that the legacy sponsorship deals are definitely below commercial rates. It seems just as likely that they would be above market (cash and/or favourable terms) because of the additional emotional value the sponsor gets from personal and/or long term connections with the club.

And with stadium naming specifically, a quick glance at L2 and L1 and most don’t have a sponsor and when they do it’s almost always a company you’ve never heard of. I doubt there’s a big list of companies looking to drop hundreds of thousands on it, otherwise they would all be the XYZ Bet Co arena or whatever.

Alan the original deal with cherry red came to an end at the end of last season and it was extended for 4 years so until 2028.

I think it’s a very good interview with Craig Cope and he is clearly indicating we need significant cash injections to compete and not go backwards. Very sensible move from the club and probably the DTB as he holds so much respect amongst the fan base that it would need someone like him being as blunt as he can to jog some people into looking at our future funding and not expecting it to just happen.

Is the stadium naming rights a rolling contract, the last I heard it was a 5 year deal that was paid upfront to help with cash flow on entering the new build. That would make things about now. My point being, if it has or is about to expire, when that time comes, sticking with the Cherry Red Records brand needs to end. Not in a disrespectful way, but to highlight that we are playing at Plough Lane, without sponsorship and we are open for discussion. Likewise other sponsorship opportunities that could rise in value once the terms are concluded

I love the fact we have loyal sponsors but are we missing out on premium prices in not chasing bigger deals. I do get the loyal to them relationships but are they at approaching the market rates?
How did you get QZ from an attempt at L1?

That’s the real issue here
League 1 not league QZ (keyboard and damaged fingers issues)

But it’s worth remembering that being un the championship generates a massive amount of extra revenue. It’s why getting out of league QZ into there is a much higher ambition than getting from NL to L2 and L2 to L1.

Trying to walk before we run is a much better a,notion but some have no patience and don’t care about long term.
How much we need each year depends on where you think we’ll be and also what sponsorship and advertising generates. It’s not as simple as throwing around the word millions to support your own ownership choice.

For a start to survive in the championship would be the, level to require several million extra a year.

Oh, and a completely lame pending hat-trick while everyone in western Europe is still asleep... Hash - "There will no doubt be another campaign against it so i hope the club, DTB have a good communication plan er planned". If a 50+1 vote gets public support by JJ, or especially Cope, then it will pass easily. Should that happen, anyone campaigning against it will look like bed blockers who just can't move on...

Off to navigate the local buses. Which is fun.
Also, reading back, it seems like Cope is implying that more significant funds need to be coming in the next couple of years (next season will be tight financially but I don't see why relegation is automatic), and that the way we currently do things has now reached the end of the road. By saying he (and others) "don't want to go backwards" almost seems a bit of an ultimatum to those who still want the status quo...

The only way you will get 3000 fans subsiding losses year in and year out, is to have an attendance each week of 100,000. Let's face it - the world where out support base will put in thousands each year simply doesn't exist

JaW - Apologies I've been out. Re your post at 17.27, I'm on record as saying I want to see this put back to the members before the end of this calendar year and I remain of that view.

£208m is too much it should be broken down to 4 x £50m jackpots and £8m to me for coming up with the idea.

Nicander: my position is that i think that the fans model served us brilliantly in non league. But it was a different ball game. We were the big fish in a small pond. Since promotion to football league, it’s been pretty clear we need to evolve. We need to level out the playing field so we can truly compete on equal terms with teams in league 1. I also get quite exasperated by people who say it’s a long term project. Football is for the here and now. We must somehow weigh both short and long term and for me it means outside investment as an absolute priority

Mark - fair enough. Certainly we won't get what we won't pay for. I would like to see the board present some strong options around what it would take to keep the club secured for community benefit while being successful on the pitch.

I think selling it just defers eventual failure, honestly, it's no more sustainable than us finding solutions to onward funding ourselves.
Womble we haven't made a loss for the last few years because of Al Hamadi, Rudoni, Currie, Assal sales. Point is we can't rely on having a big money sale or cup run every year.

Never really understood why it was a sport but wouldn’t want to persuade anyone else not to watch it. Used to enjoy the stock car racing though, mainly for the banger races.

Speedway is fantastic spent many a good night at the stadium, don't think I missed a home meeting for 12 years between 79 to 91 . Actually seem to spend most of my teens at plough lane.
