Silk - great for school kids though, they can just say “Honestly, I did my homework, but the AI ate it!!”, and no teacher would ever question that… 😬 Brilliant for teachers too, so much less marking to do… ☺️🥳

Discord is currently being investigated by the FBI. Does the DTB have a back-up if it gets shut down?

Very sad to hear about Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis 😢 Rugby sees so many big hits these days, it’s little wonder this happens, but surely more could be done to reduce the risks?

I don't use Discord either OI but judging by what all the current DTB candidates were saying about fan ownership and what virtually every other DTB member or candidate has ever said (with the notable exception of Shergy, who has not been on here for a while, so I hope he is well, and dared to suggest a different path if circumstances dictated it) I fear it is fan ownership or bust as far as they are concerned.

I feel we are all just repeating ourselves now. We can see the train coming down the track in 15 months time but nobody is doing much about it other than now trying to find some mugs out there who will give us cash on an ongoing basis for no overall control. We'd be better off looking at how we can safeguard Plough Lane NOW should we end up going into administration, while it is still unsecured and within our gift to do so. That would be a good use of time and resources.
Yes, Russ set out some safeguards to look at the other day on here. Is anyone trying to say such things on Discord? Do they get moderated? Does anyone in power actually have these conversations or are we locked into "fan ownership is non-negotiable"?

$6m man - totally agree with what you say about the “50% +1” proposal- it will only ever be a short term fix. I think that there is never going to be a route to changing our ownership structure with our current governance structure, so I think that we will inevitably end in administration, at which point the whole panoply of “restricted actions” etc. falls away and the administrator just sells out control to whoever offers the best deal to the creditors. The frustrating thing is that we still have time to take control of that process, for example by looking at what sorts of safeguards we can put in place if we give up control, but are clearly not going to explore that.

RK - you know that, I know that and so do quite a few on here. Given there are now typically only 30 or 40 people on here and we have 7,000 DT members, my fear is many will not appreciate this and think 50% + 1 is the solution. Whatever Price said on the WHAD podcast, I cannot see somebody buying, say, 20% of our shares, not having control and be willing to continually fund our operating losses. What's in it for them? If they withdraw their funding we are back to being screwed again and there is nothing to compel them to maintain it.

50% + 1 wouldn't even pay off our debt anyway so it is merely a temporary cashflow reprieve.
I think it's been said a few times, that 50+1 was only ever a solution to paying off our debt, not sorting out our operating losses. Basic Finance rule for Beginers Vol 1 is - use one-off income for one-off expenditure, not to fund ongoing operations

An interesting analysis Slough Womble and I agree with your conclusions. 50% + 1 would only be an answer if the shareholders of 50% - 1 were continually subsidising the ongoing losses. As it is, the only contribution from those shareholders is whatever they paid for their shares. All this does is give us a bit of short term cash and kick the administration can down the road because we will never get the required majority to sell out so we have to wait for the inevitable administration, when we've run out of cash and have no say in what vulture may buy us out of it as the creditors will not care and it will be for them to agree to it, not the members of the DT.

I just hope whoever does buy us out of administration does not asset strip, bump up ticket prices and screw us over just to get their hands on Plough Lane.
Reading back and adding on to the point Silk made at 12:09 I'd say all the "new" league clubs have struggled due to not having a big fan base as when look at clubs who were relegated and came back up like Doncaster, Lincoln, Mansfield, Orient, Oxford etc have certainly done better than those promoted who struggle more like Harrogate, Accrington, Barrow, Cheltenham etc. Also historic league clubs who get relegated and then struggle to get back are mainly those who were often up for re-election like Hartlepool, Halifax, Chester, Darlington, Aldershot, Carlisle, Torquay & Scunthorpe while many "new" clubs have since been relegated like Kidderminster, Scarborough, Maidstone, Yeovil, Dagenham, Sutton, Hereford & Morecambe. What helps us is we are not a "new" club as far as our fanbase goes when look at our average attendance compared to Wycombe, Burton or Stevenage and main reason why we needed to move from Kingsmeadow as we'd outgrown the stadium and why we need to carry on evolving otherwise we will be no different to Hereford or Torquay. The fan owned model has done well but not sure it's sustainable going forward and 50+1 isn't the answer for me
