Only people who go to most of the games of their lower league team (or follow them online), who, 95% of the time, are disappointed and frustrated, can really savour and enjoy moments like the 90th minute today. Nobody, me included, gave us much chance today. Did we deserve to win? I don't care. We've had such bad luck we deserved a bit. Their defenders seemed to run away from Hackford as opposed to him finding space but he still had to finish it. My head was bouncing after it went in. I didn't find out the Exeter score until walking along the Leeds to Liverpool canal after the game, so to be safe with a game to spare is fabulous. Will we struggle next season? Not a question for today. Today is to be savoured and enjoyed because days like this don't happen too often. Wigan is actually quite a nice place, well at least the parts I saw, which is unusual for Greater Manchester. They have Greenheart which has miles of canals, nature reserves and lakes. Even though they are just cheap terraced houses, the front gardens of many of the houses I saw in Marus Bridge very well tendered, with owners washing door steps and power washing drives, totally destroying the misconception of being a northern slum.
