It’s the UK border force that is providing the taxi service to the small boat crossings, not RNLI. 95% apparently. Horrible that the volunteers of RNLI are being targeted and having to close offices

Not sure of the maritime designations but my perception is that the boats tend to launch fine but get into trouble closer to our shores. Don’t know how far the RNLI covers our into The English Channel which we won and named because of our wondrous navy.

Anyone criticising the RNLI needs to STFU and take off their ridiculous balaclava….

The RNLI is an interesting one regarding the small boats. I don't understand how the French can allow a sea craft that clearly isn't fit for the journey enter the sea, but the RNLI, who are working in our waters, comply with maritime law, knowing that a boat is dangerously overload, can't un-see this and they've an obligation to ensure the occupants are safe.

One great thing about the RNLI is that it is still operating in The Republic of Ireland with Royal in it's name.

Yes the world has changed since the Solomon Browne disaster but the RNLI principle remains the same - saving lives at sea. If you don’t like which lives they are saving then the problem and solution doesn’t lie with them.

Last time a politician accused them of being a taxi service they had a record month. Attacking the RLNI really pisses off Middle England, on a par with kicking a labrador puppy.

OI, there's a blogger on Facebook who goes by the title Man Behaving Dadly. He set up a fundraiser for the RNLI a few years ago and every time a protest takes place the donations go up. [Link]

I wonder just how much above usual, donations to the RLNI will be this week. At the moment you can get someone's name 'engraved' on a new Thames lifeboat for a £75 donation.
