On This Day in 1955
The Shildon goalkeeper punches clear as the Dons win through to round three of the Amateur Cup after a Freddie Gauntlett goal in extra time of a replay finally ended the challenge of the Durham Colliery side. Having been officially welcomed at Wimbledon town hall before the match, the Shildon supporters who had made the long journey to south London were served an after-match meal by home fans keen to repay the hospitality they had been shown at Dean Street a week earlier.

Trips, well maybe they can do something about that ...

It only adds a few thousand to their gate and they’re looking for double digit growth. Not gonna happen.

A ladies team would be the ideal ground share, much less damage to pitch than the men's team or the egg-chasers. For CFC ladies. 8,600 cap would be decent for Prem but do they get more for European games?

Some "subtle" branding at the ground would be ok with me if it came with some decent income stream ;-/
We’ve waited so long to have a stadium of our own and I dont want loads of Chelsea signage around our stadium. But let’s face it Chelsea will want something for their investment and knowing our financial predicament puts them in a strong position to hold us to ransom. I don’t like the idea at all.

That’s the catch Meadow. From KM capacity to PL capacity isn’t enough for Chelsea to invest. The numbers just don’t add up for them.

Certainly not enough for them ti pay the sort of money we need.
I absolutely despise Chelsea but less so their women. If they were willing to invest a significant amount into our ground, I'd take it.

We should ask the club board.

Oh yeah that’s right they won’t answer they’ll tell you they can’t answer and that you’re a bad person for asking and then they’ll shut email down.
Trigs i heard we still have a financial interest in Rudoni. No idea how much of an interest though it was just pre match chatter.

I'd also be amazed if this rumour was true but I wouldn't be averse to it. Currently. aside from sliding into administration and hoping to be bought out and not subsequently ripped off, the only way to continue in existence is to cut costs (mostly playing budget) to a level our revenue will allow (which will be lower than what it currently is if we end up in non-league because we would lose income from EFL-related stuff and we would have lower crowds). Our constitution prevents us selling out, however much it may be the only way to save us from local derbies against Walton Casuals and the like again. I don't know if I could face watching that again.

How would people feel if Chelsea bought a minority but significant stake in the stadium itself, which cleared our debts, provided capex for the training ground development we keep hearing is required and provided a commitment to contribute towards the expansion of the stadium when it is required?

It would help our balance sheet but it would not deal with our ongoing operating losses so that needs to be dealt with, one way or another through realistic means and not pie in the sky garbarge one poster who pops in now and again to bombard us with.
*not a criticism of Rudoni he’s far and away our best creation under the AFCW banner but if he gets picked up by Bournemouth for £30m we’ll get zilch.

Yes I was being tongue in cheek about a sell on clause for KM seeing as we historically (pre-Cope) haven’t managed to do anything significant along those lines in terms of decent clause or decent player to make a clause worth it.* I’d be amazed if Chelsea really wanted to play their women’s games at Plough Lane given the small increase in capacity versus what Arsenal women have shown they can do at their own stadium.

I’d be more amazed if they were willing to pay much to do so.
Oo er missus!
Given the perilous state of our finances and how the incumbent leadership (DTB and PLC) have consistently shown an inability to recognise and deal with it, any additional source of revenue is not to be sniffed at. The obvious questions are how much use can our pitch stand and would it be even feasible to continue with the Broncos lease? That would be the end of the women's team playing at Plough Lane but if we don't do something it could end up being the end of anyone playing there.

I've never heard of a sell on fee for property so if this unsubstantiated rumour has any legs, if Kingsmeadow was sold the proceeds would go 100% to the current owners and none to us as we have no interest in it anymore (unless somebody knows different and I am certainly not going to pay a fee to the Land Registry to find out).
Can't link, but there is an article in the New York Times about Chelsea Women moving to PL.

Hopefully we negotiated a decent sell on fee for KM.

I wouldn't mind that if it brings in some six-figure income. What would happen to KM? Maybe Kingstonian will return although they haven't got a pot to piss in. I'm assuming we can accommodate CFC ladies plus Broncos?

I suspect that Chelsea wouldn’t solve their attendance problems moving to Plough Lane. They need QPR, Brentford or to (for want of a better expression) man up and let the ladies team play at Stamford Bridge.

Ironic if their ladies team play at Plough Lane when our ladies team aren’t allowed.
Yeah they can give us like £20m per season and project Chelsea logos onto surfaces on match days so that they’re not visible at other times 🤪
